What Does the PTA Money Pay For?
NHE PTA raises money each year to support educational opportunities for every child at our school, including enrichment programs, field trips, the Think Tank for Science/Technology/and Math (STEM) Enrichment, creation of our new school garden & outdoor learning environment, and much more.
In 2015-2016, in addition to the money we raised throughout the year to cover our ongoing PTA program expenses (student reward programs, events like Pancake Supper and Multicultural Night, fliers for PTA communication, etc.) we raised $59,150 through our Spring Auction event and other fundraisers to fund our "disbursements budget" for 2016-2017.
100% of this disbursements budget funds improvements, programs, and support for students and teachers at our school. Below is a graphic showing where our disbursements funds for 2016-2017 are being spent to enhance education for all children at NHE.
Highlights of our PTA's 2016-2017 Disbursements spending include:
Teaching Garden (Freddie's Farm) expansion, training and curriculum
Increasing Teacher Stipends from $100 to $200 per staff member (to be used on classroom needs)
Installation of new electronic marquee to improve parent communication
Purchase of translation headsets for use at PTA meetings and school events
New microscopes and materials for the Think Tank (STEM learning lab)
Funding for Field Trips for all grade levels (PTA covers admissions costs, parents cover bus/transportation fees - PTA is prohibited from paying for field trip transportation)
